Bradley Dale Carlson, age 73, of rural Colome, passed away on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 in the presence of his family in his home home. After losing his battle with Hyper-sensitivity pneumonitis (Interstitial lung disease) that he was diagnosed with in late August of 2025.
Brad was the second born son to Harry W. and Ruby (Johnson) Carlson on February 9th, 1953 at the Rosebud Community Hospital in Winner, SD.
He was baptized on May 10th, 1953 at the Congregational Church of Millboro.
He attended Progressive Country grade school completing 1st -8th Grades. He then attended Winner High School. This is where he made so many lifelong friends that partook in shenanigans and pranks before graduating in 1971, with the largest graduating class of WHS.
In the fall of 1971 to spring of 1972 Brad attended College at SDSU in Brooking, SD. After his car accident on April 30th, 1972, he then went on to complete his Associates degree in Diesel Technology at University of South Dakota, in Springfield…Brad would have told you he completed College at the “Prison”! College at the “Prison” must not have been too bad because the amount of friends that were made there also became lifelong friendships.
After completing College, he returned home to his parents on the family ranch where he would spend the rest of his life! Doing what he loved!
On October 31st, 1981 Brad and Vicki (Nespor) were united in marriage and to this union two children were born. Bridget Lynn in 1991 and Clint Alan in 1994.
He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments, his herd of Herefords, and his first car purchase, his 1930 Model A. He was always there to help and guide them along in all they did.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him!
Brad is survived by his wife Vicki of 44 years.
