Steve Elliott Price, 70, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 4th, 2026, while visiting family in Dundee, MI.
Steve was born on April 21st, 1956, in Julesburg, Colorado, to Mildred M. (Sewald) Price and Robert A. Price. He was one of three children and grew up in Colorado, graduating from high school in Sedgwick before beginning a lifelong career in ranching.
From an early age, Steve developed a deep appreciation for the land, hard work, and the western way of life. Ranching was more than a career to him – it was part of who he was. Over the years, he became known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and ability to manage large operations, including the Wyoming Hereford Ranch and Warren Ranch. Following his retirement from ranching, Steve continued to work for 21st Century, delivering John Deere equipment throughout the region.
Steve had a passion for roping, rodeos, working as an auctioneer, and volunteering on multiple local and state boards. It was through one of these events that he met the love of his life, Robin. Although their paths crossed years earlier, timing eventually brought them together, and they were married on February 17th, 2012, in Cheyenne.
Above all else, Steve valued family. He never met a stranger, was known for his quick wit, easy conversation, wild west stories and “old Indian tricks.” He loved gathering with those closest to him, lending a hand whenever needed, and staying connected to the people he cared about most. His steady presence, sense of humor, and generous heart will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emray and Ione Price and Paul and Josephine Sewald; his parents, Mildred and Robert Price; and two stepchildren, Kestin Braden and Kristy Van Der Hoeven.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Robin A. Price of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his children, Brandon (Courtney) Price of Iowa, Britt Price of Cheyenne, and Brady Price of Pine Bluffs; his stepchildren, Amy (Bret) Smith of Dundee, Random (Michael) Muse of Oklahoma, and Nicole Kersey (Candace Farrow) of Canada; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Wayne (Mary) Price of Colorado and Charlotte (Jim) Mollendor of Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at Archer Event Center, located at 3801 Archer Parkway in Cheyenne, on May 23rd from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Steve’s care was entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service in Dundee, Michigan. Cremation arrangements were handled by Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
